Opinion/Editorial
I don’t have Showtime and have no idea what’s happened on Vivid’s reality show “Deeper Throat” except for what I’ve read. But Gene Ross points out Hirsch and his wife Laurie allowed their young children to be on the show. They’re not somewhere in the background. They have speaking parts. Steven Hirsch allowed his young children to be on a PORN REALITY SHOW. I thought he was suppose to be the smart one at Vivid!!
This could also be a legal issue because the show airs sex scenes. No penetration is showed but it’s serious enough that they have to air a 2257 compliance notice at the end of each episode stating all parties are of legal age. His children aren’t around the nudity and sex scenes of course. But they are on a PORN REALITY SHOW that airs sex scenes.
You never see children on an actual porn set with speaking roles or even in the background. It’s just not allowed for obvious reasons! But Hirsch and his wife seemed to have forgotten about that.
I can’t believe Hirsch came up with the idea himself. I think his wife might have pushed the idea so she could get more screen time for herself by using their children to push her own career. Can you imagine if anyone recognizes them on the street and yells out hey those are the kids from that PORN REALITY SHOW? Do their children even know what their father does for a living? I wouldn’t have wanted to know that my parents watched porn if I was a child. But just imagine their children going through the public ridicule if they’re recognized as the kids from that PORN REALITY SHOW. I assume they would also want to watch themselves on television when the episodes air. Do Hirsch and his wife show them the G-rated version??
Hirsch is used to being in the public eye. I don’t think his wife works at the company because she’s only credited as his wife on the listings. I just feel this was his wife’s idea so she could get more air time showing herself as a wife and mother and get her own future gigs.
Steven Hirsch has been in the business for over 25 years and I don’t understand what he was thinking by allowing his children to be shown on a PORN REALITY SHOW. Many porn stars and many Hollywood celebrities have tried hard to shield their children from cameras and the public eye. But here he is introducing his children to the world and making his family into the porn version of the Osbournes.

I think you’re doing a whole lot of squawking over absolutely nothing. There were no kids near porn, right? Who fucking cares?

I don’t really care either. I went to my parents work when I was a kid. No, it wasn’t porn, but I doubt the child was specifically titillated in any way. I remember there was a kid I went to summer camp with every year who’s dad was a Playboy photographer. All the kids would be there asking him about it and he’d just be like “yeah, she was naked”. I remember he called it her “wanger” and he’d point to his pants between his legs. Then he’d go back to playing ping pong.

I guess I’m kind of assuming that because Deeper Throat is a Showtime production, and Showtime is owned by HBO, that it’s a more professional studio than most porn sets too.

That’s kind of like saying movies that have sex scenes shouldn’t have kids appearing in any other part. I think most people are intelligent enough to differentiate between a sex scene and a production that has a sex scene in it.

Seymore Butts (Adam Glasser) allowed his son of 9 or 10 years to be on his show. The kid was never near filming of course, but it’s been done before. It also aired (airs still?) on Showtime.

The kids were shown at home. Someone call the cops. A guy who’s married with a family spends time at home with his kids.
If you were an Indian your name would be Talks Out of Ass. You haven’t seen the show? Who talks about a TV show they haven’t seen? Ass talker.

I don’t think it is right to have kids on a porn show even if they are at home. I really did not agree with Seymour Butts having his kid in his show or in the show credits. Maybe the feeling is that if the kids are going to inherit the biz, they should get used to working in it, but I know I want better for any potential offspring. Most people in porn hide their kids.

The people watching the show aren’t watching because they care about his family. They’re watching to see naked porn stars. Actress Denise Richards was skewered when she had her daughters on her reality show. But her daughters were on for maybe a minute an episode and the show isn’t about porn. Is he starting his kids early so they can be the newest contract stars? Didn’t his oldest son Brad do porn? This isn’t Europe where porn is accepted and their stars treated like rock stars. The United States still looks down on porn and you shouldn’t have your young children anywhere near a reality show that’s about the making of a porn movie.

Who are these European porn rock stars? I need to find a blog that covers them…
Darrah Ford

There’s Rocco Siffredi who I read is treated like any A-list celebrity there. There’s also Cicciolina who was recently on Argentine’s ‘Dancing With The Stars’. I don’t know of any blogs covering European porn stars though.

I still don’t understand what the issue is. Are you saying people involved in the adult industry should not have children? Or are you saying children of people in the adult industry should not be acknowledged in public?
Almost every reality show based around the life of someone who has children features the children on screen. The Osbournes, Gene Simmons, Run, Deion Sanders, all those “Housewives” shows, to name a few. They all revolve around peoples lives and if they have children then the children are part of the show just as they are part of their lives. Hence the term “reality”.
This show was about the business of making one particular adult movie. What was portrayed on the show was that like most businessmen Mr. Hirsch spends too much time at work and that causes him problems at home, and problems at home cause him problems at work. To say that people only watched it to see mostly naked porn stars is a little specious on your part. It was not particularly titillating to see flashes of nudity in the middle of people laboring at their respective jobs. With the ease of availability and seemingly endless amount of porn out there, why would anyone watch Showtime just to see some tits and ass?
But I digress, Steve runs a successful business and from what was shown he acts in a very professional manner at all times. He does not appear to be embarrassed by what he does for a living. I suspect he wouldn’t be as successful if he was. So why the double standard? You have to hide your children if you are involved with porn in any way? But it’s OK to be a rapper who promotes violence and misogyny or a recovering drug addict and acknowledge your children publicly? Hell, we just had a president who was an alchoholic and drug addict and is in many ways responsible hundreds of thousands of deaths and it’s perfectly acceptable for his children to be seen publicly. Why the double standard?
Would anyone say Gene Simmons does not have the right to decide to feature his kids on his show? Why doesn’t Steve Hirsch have the same right to make that decision? Is this because you want porn to stay marginalized? Something dirty, on the edge, possibly illegal? How about we quit blowing up half the world and digging up every mineral, ore, and fossil fuel we can find and instead sit around and watch adults have sex on camera and hopefully have some sex of our own while we watch.

Kong has the same problem I have. He narrows it down too much to just what the bare point is.

Where did I say that? Of course not! I said no such thing.
They can be acknowledged but not when it comes to their parent’s job in the adult industry. Children of Hollywood celebrities already have a hard enough time in the public eye and with stalkers and kidnap threats. Add to that your father is a pornographer, then that just adds more problems for that child because of how society will treat them. I’ve heard about children of porn stars being harassed at school because of what their parents do. But they aren’t putting their kids on reality show about porn.
And look at how the Osbourne children turned out with alcohol and drug abuse and thinking they were real celebrities. I heard Pamela Anderson refused to have her children on her reality show. As much of a bitch she is, at least she got that part right.
They can show those problems between him and his wife without showing their kids. The Osbournes oldest daughter refused to be on the show but was blurred out when she was round the taping.
Yes he does.
When cameras are around. But I’ve heard differently with how he’s treated his contract girls. But that’s a completely different story.
No he should not.
The double standard is because porn stars and pornographers are treated badly in the United States. This isn’t Europe where not that many care and are treated like any other celebrity. That’s why you should protect them more. Jenna Jameson pulled her pregnant Myspace pictures because of Hollywood blogs were criticizing her unborn children. So just think of how Hirsch’s children might be treated with cameras chronicling their home life.

Hirsch is a legacy. His Dad was in the biz.
He doesn’t take attitude from any of his contract girls. He doesn’t care how much they sell. Devon would be a good example. Even Savanna, who is disrespectful to many including Paul Thomas, is not rude to him.

I don’t think underage people should be on any sort of reality tv.

Those poor, poor kids. We must help protect these healthy, white, upper class kids who live in a multi million dollar home in a clean, quiet, and safe neighborhood. And who have a stay at home mother and a CEO father. And who will have access to the best education and health care available.
Their potential will be severely compromised by the fact that their father is a pornographer as opposed to children who are physically and/or mentally challenged. Or have parents who abuse them or are poor, unhealthy, or uneducated. Or have a different skin color, are foreign, are alcoholics, are drug addicts, or simply old or unattractive.
I’m sure these less fortunate children will grow to find solace in the fact that every time they were reminded of how they were different or less fortunate they could have replied sharply “at least my father isn’t a pornographer”.
Your argument is specious and juvenile and dangerous. To replace personal responsibility with prescript for the sake of comfort and convenience can only weaken our moral certitude and dim our collective conscience. Principals without consequence are merely philosophy.

Contract girl Kira kenner sued vivid for ripping heroff on her websites, failure to make payments, and catching std’s in the workplace. “Very proffesional” Steve Hirsch tried to claim that Kenner was an independent contractor, therefore the complany was not resposible for the stds. of couse “very professiona” Steve was wrong and settled out of court.
An exclusinve contract performer, and ‘professional’ Steve tries to claim she is not an employee. Yes, very “proffesional at all time.” Surely you wer joking.

I dont think there is anything to egregious here, but there is something a little off kilter when you have children on a show that is centered aroung the porn industry. Illegal,no. Tasteless, yes. Some people will sell anything to make a buck, even if it means putting your own children in a show about the porn business.
People in porn make their own choice to do it. I doubt that these children were given a choice to be on this show. It might be fun for kids to be on t.v.
Do these kids tell their friends to watch their t.v. show.

Would you let your children watch this show? Does Steve Hirsh allow his children to watch this show?
If your answer is no to this question, then how do you justify having children on a show that you would no even let them watch? And tis is a ‘reality’ show. A scripted production is a whole other ball of wax.

Kong, money doesn’t make a child happy or have a better life. Some of the biggest degenerates out there are these worthless spoiled rich kids who think they’re above the law because of their family’s money.
Gene Ross has been in the business for about 20 years and he’s even horrified by it. So I’m sure there are plenty of people in porn that feel the same way but won’t say anything publicly.

Next he’ll try to find that next loophole and try to get his kids in the next Vivid movie just as long as it’s not around actual sex.

Found this on AdultFYI.com this has got to be about Steven and Laurie, right? They’ve been married since 2001 and 12,000 a month would be nothing to him, unlike most other porn company owners. Anyone heard anything about this?

“The Grand Vizier: Who’s The Big Adult Industry Company Owner Who Just Filed for Divorce?
–Gene Ross
The Grand Vizier smiled as he tilted his tarboosh rakishly. He lit an Auchincloss cigarette. I knew what he was about to say. Some porno big cheese filed for divorce November 4, after eight years of marriage, claiming his wife was cheating on him. It’s been a whispered rumor for weeks. And from the stories I’ve been hearing wifey was doing it pretty much out in the open.
Daddy big cheese was also giving her a $12,000 monthly clothes allowance but that wasn’t enough to keep her anchored at home, it seems. The Vizier says more to come….”

Sorry I took long to reply. Yeah I’ve been asking around. One person said it’s not him. But then I thought maybe Orenstein at Wicked. How about Joone at Digital Playground? I heard Joone’s wife looks like Kayden Kross. Gene Ross hasn’t updated yet. But first person I thought was Hirsch.
