Lauren Phoenix would be 29-year-old today. She first entered the adult industry as a 20-year-old college student dancing in Ontario. Three years later she started doing porn in 2003 because she saw lucrative opportunities in creating her own websites, and producing and distributing her own content.
She won AVN’s Female Performer of the Year in 2005 and XRCO’s New Starlet and Female Performer of the Year. In 2005, Lauren was also hired as a model by American Apparel for their catalogs.
I don’t believe she’s dead because the date listed as her date is June 6, 2006 >> 666. There are also rumors she later became more religious and this might be her way to kill her porn persona. Maybe she didn’t have a good experience while in the industry and picked that specific date as her swan song. But she was a big star with more than 300 movies to her name. So it might be harder for her to go without being noticed. But the best of luck to Lauren in her new life, wherever she might be!
Feb 9 2009
This was submitted to the IAFD today:
Lauren Phoenix is dead. She died June 6th 2006.
Personally, I find this hard to believe.
That a star this big passed-away over two years ago, and I haven’t seen or heard anything about it, especially here on ADT, makes me very skeptical.
So, how about it?
Is there anything to this?
Or, better yet, what is Lauren Phoenix currently up to?
Maybe “Lauren” herself submitted it. Perhaps she wants the persona formerly known as “Lauren Phoenix” to be “dead”, as in, like her spiritual essence, not physically. Maybe the date of June 6, 2006 represents some special significance for her. Porn stars who wish to leave those memories behind have said and done far crazier things.
Just a theory.
Someone also tried to remove her wikipedia entry today.
She commented once that she had some profound religious misgivings about it all. Maybe she’ll do more work for American Apparel?
When I was tracking this down, I noticed that (what I believe to be) her MySpace page(s) had been taken down.
(i.e. MySpace page(s) returned by Google that are now gone, but suggest they may have been removed when you go to them).
For whatever it’s worth, even if the IAFD marks a performer as deceased we don’t remove their performer’s page.
Finally, we have reason to believe that Lauren Phoenix, herself, submitted the “death notice.” And, most importantly, that she is alive and well.
Hope she has a great retirement.
And, thanks for a great career and back-catalog.
There is some rumour that she was battling subtance abuse just after the left the business. As many of you know substance abuse normally ends up in some Drama involving Religion.
But I wish her well in her New life if she’s still alive.
But one cannot do more than 300 Hardcore scenes and expect all that to just die off.
She can move on with her New Life but her material will live on.
