Last month Asian porn star Ai Iijima was found dead in her home. She had been dead for a week before they found her body. Her good friend, former Indonesian first lady Dewi Sukarno, wrote on her blog that Ai was being blackmailed and threatened with pictures and videos that had been taken of her and could not discuss her problems with anyone
Now an autopsy has ruled out foul play in Ai Iijima’s death and said the 36-year-old had died of pneumonia. But many don’t believe the ruling and believe foul play was involved or she had died of AIDS. Ai was an outspoken AIDS activist in a country where it’s not spoken of publicly. And her blog posts usually talked about AIDS:
“Today, someone is dying from AIDS. Every day, the number of people infected is increasing.”
“My first test took a lot of courage and was very frightening until the result came back. I still remember being worried. For the people who are important in your life, you should take the test.”
She left the spotlight in 2006. She revealed she was in bad health while the tabloids reported she was suffering from mild neurosis, cystitis, and kidney complaints.
A memorial service is scheduled for March 1 with all donations going to the Japan Foundation for AIDS Prevention.
