Thank you to the person that sent this in!
A lot of people are making a big deal about the AIM Fundraiser, but someone on adultdvdtalk asks a good question:
“HALF of the money goes to AIM, the other half goes to LATATA (Derek Hay, Joel Lawrence, Type9 etc.)
So if you want to give money to porn agents then by all means show up. If you want to give money to AIM, just go to their website and do it there, or just send them a check.
This is great, holding a fundraiser for AIM and keeping half the money. I challenge LATATA to give ALL the money to AIM. (is this legal, a 501c3 and a for profit organization combing a fundraiser under the guise of helping the nonprofit) Pornlaw, what do ya think?”
Here is the link to the post:
And here is the press release which states that AIM gets only half.
For Immediate Release: “This is Our Industry”
A fundraiser for the Licensed Adult Talent Agency Trade Association (L.A.T.A.T.A.) and the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation (A.I.M. Healthcare) is going to be held on Wednesday, November 11th 2009 @ Les Deux Nightclub in Hollywood, Ca at 9pm.
Recently, the A.I.M. Healthcare Foundation has been the target of aggressive attacks by the Los Angeles County Department of Health (LACDH) and California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal-OSHA). Motivated by LA County Health’s desire to get new funding and power to oversee all adult entertainment production, these began by inspection and probing of three (3) licensed talent agencies, by both LACDH and Cal-OSHA, seeking to obtain records on their producer clients and demanding the disgorgement of such records under the threat of issuance of citation for minor office space, work place violations. They did not do it! They hired attorneys and unified behind LATATA to protect themselves and the industry.
The industries first HIV positive case in five years was then identified in Patient Zero and the governmental effort re-focused on A.I.M. Healthcare because of the central nature of A.I.M. Healthcare to adult talent. As a result, A.I.M. Healthcare has now been embattled in a number of time consuming and expensive law suits to defend its very existence and protect its performer clients and their private medical records from such overreaching governmental intrusion.
Time to fight back! This fundraiser will help the adult industry in it’s fight against the very people that threaten to shut down A.I.M. Healthcare and, in effect, the progress of the adult industry in general! Awareness and support for this event is crucial and these proposed governmental obstructions would affect everyone in the industry from the production companies, agencies, talent, and studios etc.
Nine agencies have joined forces to help create extra money for this cause: L.A. Direct Models, GoldStar Modeling, Adult Talent Managers, Lisa Ann’s Talent Management, Spiegler Girls, Type 9 Models, World Modeling, A-List Talent, and Foxxx Modeling.
This is a red carpet event that will be hosted by representatives from each of the adult agencies. A star studded, who’s who of adult industry performers will be on hand to help raise proceeds.
Door proceeds for this event will be split equally between LATATA and AIM; donations to AIM alone at the event are most welcome and can be made with checks payable to AIM Healthcare Foundation.
Anonymous donations can be made by online via the AIM Website: http://www.AIM-Med.org , or mail checks directly to AIM Healthcare Foundation at 4630 Van Nuys Blvd Sherman Oaks, CA 91403 or by calling the AIM office with a credit card.
All donations are tax deductible as AIM Healthcare Foundation is a California Non Profit Benefit Corporation, Federal Status: 501 ( c ) (3).
Les Deux Nightclub is located at 1638 N. Las Palmas Ave. Hollywood, Ca. 90028.

If you admit you are stashing some of the funds from the donation bucket in your own pocket, are you still considered to be on the make?
It’s kind of like the old Chinese question, “if a tree falls in a forest, and there’s no one around…”.

LATATA is a NON PROFIT ORGANIZATION check up on company register for them before you start mouthing off.
You people just assume that your lining the pockets of Derek Hay, Joel etc, personally i wouldnt piss on em if they were on fire, however, you need to realize that LATATA makes this industry more legit since the government wants the biz on its ass.
This is the REAL problem in porn. You people all fight and bicker amongst each other try to fuck each and everyone over for a buck.
Why cant you turn your anger towards something more worthy like the Cal-OSHA??

ooh and i just found out, LATATA foot the bill for everything, thats why they took HALF

Ahh, I had assumed LATATA was an acronym for the names of all the modelling agencies. Pretty lazy of me.
But, LATATA was apparently set up to represent some very lucrative organizations. It’d be like setting up an organization to represent investment bankers, and then sitting around asking for hand-outs for them.
I figured there’d be some clause they were claiming like this. But, if you’re taking money to cover expenses, it seems like you’d say that. Not just say, “we’re taking half”. We’re just supposed to assume that Derek Hay is on the up and up, and expenses will be well more than half?

It’s funny how everyone bashes derek hay for his success, of course weve all had our run in’s with him but i was under the impression that Joel was the chairman of LATATA??
But in regards to the COVERING of expenses, every charity has some degree of red tape, every time you donate a few bucks to charity, u have to remember that the collection plate costs money, the person who counts it costs money, in fact, everything costs money…!!
If the fundraiser made 10,000 and was split AFTER the red tape, then yeah, id be pissed! but it actually wasnt which is good. They got 50% net, not gross. the remaining 50% net which went to LATATA, a lot was used on the organizing of the event. Yeah sure the agencies could have dug into their own pockets but everyone has to live. We cant all be rolling in it, unless ur name is derek of course! hehe!

LATATA is a non profit? B
BON, could you do me a favor and tell me where this can be confirmed. I cant find it anywhere.

Yes, LATATA is registered as a 501c3 company. Call joel and ask for the company registration number and then do a companies search. I was actually surprised myself when i saw him last night and then checked today.

Bon,
What do you think about AIM racking up legal bills to protect producers identities from OSHA?
Bon
November 12, 2009
Actually that is a good question, from what I know regarding law, you cannot request information regard a patient for any reason as it breaches the confidentially laws. In regards to producers, who the hell would AIM know where anyone is shooting!! But let me ask you a question, AIM racks up legal fees to protect producers. Why is Cal-OSHA going after AIM to get this info? Which makes me want to ask an even more interesting question. Is Cal-OSHA purposely costing AIM in order to shut them down?
But to answer your question, AIM has protected these Producers, perhaps these producers should return the favor and protect AIM. Ive heard more people shit on AIM’s door step than they would do to appraise them. Remember, without AIM testing, or anyone test, everyone in porn would probably be running around spreading alsorts of wonderful things.

OSHA is alowed to gather information from employers and, very improtant here bon, ‘anyone who acts as an agent of the employer.”
Given that many producers accept only AIM tests, and pay AIM for the priveledge of illegal acces to patient medical records, it can be argued that AIM is an agent of the employers. LATATA also ko=nows that they are agents of the employers too.
And you are right, without AIM the producers and powers that be in the industry would do NOTHING to protect performers. Funny how a multibillion dollar industry relies on a charity to do what can only be described as putting a bandaid on a bullet would.
Funny how AIM cries “privacy’ for its patients, but if you pay them a monthly donation you get a password that gives you access to their medical records.
The law require employers to pay for folow up testing and treatment for anyone exposed to a blood borne pathogen in the workplace.

The reason I didn’t cover this story was because I couldn’t get an answer as to where the Latata 1/2 of the money was going…

And Bon,
Even with the testing, diseases are still be spread like wildfire in porn. Over 2000 individual performers testing positive for just gonnorea nad chlamydia in the last few years. What would that number be if they kept track of herpes, HPV, PID, trichomonis, bacterial vaginosis, etc.
Bon, how many more than just the couple thousand std positive performers would there be if AIM tested for and tracked the above mentioned diseases the same as gonnorea and chlamydia? Of course they never will, because everybody knows the answeer to the question….ALOT ALOT ALOT more!!!!!!!!!

Bon,
You ask a good question, how would AIM know where anyone is shooting?
A couple of years ago there was a meeting help by, I believe, the Board of Superviosors, but it may have been a State Senate Committee(im not sure). It was in the aftermath of the 2004 outbreak. SHaron Mitchell was asked what has changed in the industry testing policies since then. She talked about having a system called “ADULTDAT” where producers listed their performers, who worked with whom, and what sex acts they participated in with eachother. Of course, the adultdat system was never put into place, but that is why they think AIM has the information, because MOtch told them they did. I’m not sure if that testimony was given under oath. She also said there is a system to quarentine perfromers who go over seas to work. And if you belive that I got a bridge for sale in brooklyn if youre interested.
I will try to find a link to that testimony by Sharon Mitchell.

Hey look, here’s a simple way of ending this one.
If you DONT like LATATA, dont support it. Cause they just as easily will not support you.
When this business gets shut down and disappears and you bunch of fucks have nothing to do, dont come crying here that your bored.
If you think you have all the answers, then why don’t YOU do something about it.
After reading these countless posts it’s clear the 60% of these comments on this post or any other tells everyone the PROBLEM. We all know the PROBLEM, we dont need to hear it again and again.
Like i said before, instead of just fart assing around FUCKING DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

Bon,
things are being done about it. 16 companies were recently reported to OSHA, and as a result of the lawsuit, AIM has been probhibited from disclosing patient results, which they are still doing. The next round of legal action will address AIM’s violation of the order in the patient zero case.
Just because you dont know whats going on, and AIM will never tell you, doesnt mean things arent getting done.
Just out of curiosity Bon, what is the PROBLEM, as you see it?
