A Los Angeles man who pleaded no contest to charges stemming from a road-rage crash that killed a 5-year-old boy and critically injured the child’s mother and his infant sister has been sentenced to seven years in prison.

A judge sentenced Gamboa Ayon on Monday after he and ‘Brian Surewood’ each pleaded no contest to vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence last month. Surewood was sentenced to 11 years in state prison.

Police said the two men were cutting each other off and reaching speeds of 50 mph to 90 mph in their cars in October 2007. Ayon lost control of his car and slammed into a parked vehicle, killing 5-year-old Ayman Arif and injuring his sister and 31-year-old mother.
