What exactly did Kayden Kross do this year that was so spectacular? The 8th Day? I read how her performance wasn’t well received by reviewers like so many of her other performances. I can’t see how anyone can put Kayden in the same category with other performers such as Jesse Jane, Jenna Haze, and Belladonna.
How can Lisa Ann not be nominated but Kayden is? Lisa Ann had a great year as one of the most talked about porn stars out there in the industry and in the mainstream. Her “Who’s Nailin’ Paylin” parody DVD became Hustler Video’s best seller ever! How could that accomplishment not get Lisa a nomination?? But someone like Kayden, who really didn’t do anything magnificent this year, gets a nod.
This just screams to me that the nomination was bought for her by Digital Playground to make her sign with them though the movie is an Adam & Eve feature. She is hosting the AVN Awards after all. How can someone with no personality be picked by Paul Fishbein to take the reigns of such a big production if there wasn’t something else going on behind the scenes? It wouldn’t be the first time AVN has been accused of such things.

Female Performer of the Year – Awarded to a woman for her entire body of work during the eligibility period who worked predominantly in the U.S.
(sex, acting and marketability all factored in).
Besides the fact that she lost to a performer not under contract, who did not spend a penny advertising (or baking cookies for the nominating staff) even though there are plenty on the list that did, her “marketability” was the result of her being all over the place thanks in no small part to Adam & Eve pouring tons of resources into promoting her. I believe the votes were in well before it became common knowledge that she was losing one contract for the other and she didn’t “take the reigns” of the award show, she was one of several being directed in it (along with Ms. Price and those two comedians among others).

The only big thing she was involved for the year was all the talk around her court case. The only movie that got a lot of talk was The 8th Day. But I don’t know what she did that was so great to have gotten the nomination. Just getting the nomination is a big deal which she shouldn’t have gotten. Someone like Lisa Ann should have definitely gotten a nomination.

I think Lisa Ann is a fine performer with a lot going for her but her appeal is almost solely in the MILF genre with a side order of Palin. For better or worse, porn tends to be about youth and there always seems to be a trend towards that idea but it has been pointed out to me that almost no one cared about the court case in the slightest just as she was never a serious candidate for the award. I seem to recall some of the loudest bigmouths on the various forums and twitter predicting KKK was a done deal given her appearances and hosting duties yet what happened in the end?
And you shouldn’t discount a single big movie making for a nomination. Look at Sasha Grey’s mainstream effort as an example of that. Pretentious ramblings in pseudo-intellectual speak aside, she’s physically attractive enough but unless someone enjoys ice queens, forget about it…
