Opinion/Editorial
Two weeks ago, Mike South revealed Brian Pumper had been fired from Evil Angel for faking his STD testing. Now you would think Karen and John Stagliano would have revealed to the industry that someone faked his tests considering they are both HIV positive. Especially Karen because she was knowingly infected by Marc Wallice with HIV back in 1998.
Mike asked Karen about this on on AdultDVDTalk and she replied two days later by saying Evil Angel releases their news through press releases, not through B-list gossip columnists. If we waited for the scripted press releases that are first viewed by lawyers and company heads, the truth would never be told about anything in this industry. If it wasn’t for Luke Ford, the truth would never have come out about how you Karen and your female costars were knowingly infected by Marc Wallice with HIV back in 1998.
Karen officially releases the statement that Brian was let go due to creative differences and Evil Angel wished him nothing but the best in his future endeavors. Because Mike rightfully so wouldn’t let go, Karen released this second press release finally admitting that they were not going to lie and finally admitting what Brian did by saying Brian played fast and loose with STD testing requirements on three separate occasions.
No Karen didn’t lie. You can’t lie about something that you never admitted to from the very beginning. But she finally admitted to what Brian had done because of Mike South’s story. Instead of informing her industry that someone is faking their STD tests, she just didn’t say anything hoping no one would ever find out. She didn’t want the outside world finding out how corrupt the industry she loves so much really is.
After the most recent HIV scare, Karen was doing television interviews and one of them I saw where she talked about her own personal situation. Throughout the entire interview, Karen had on her fake smile talking about how great the industry is filled with unicorns, rainbows, butterflies, and rainbows. She knows that she can’t tell the truth about the industry that has her financially living better than 99% of the porn stars out there.
The reporter asked Karen about how she contracted HIV. She didn’t name Marc Wallice but she said the performer who infected her fell through the cracks. She didn’t say he knowingly infected her after he faked his STD tests. She didn’t say how he never spent a day in prison and nothing was ever done to him except banning him from porn. She didn’t say how TT Boy still occasionally hires him. And she didn’t say how Tina Tyler defends Marc’s actions. Because if Karen actually told the truth, the outside world would know how much more diabolical the porn industry really is.
Karen tells Mike South how Evil Angel was running this imaginary internal investigation but had to cut it short because of what he had written on his blog. She says how their first press release was incomplete and they weren’t ready yet to release the details of what had happened. You knew what he did but still gave the impression that there was nothing wrong. If there was no follow up, that first press release would have been Brian’s ticket to still remain in porn without facing any consequences for his actions.
Brian was fired from Evil Angel a week before Mike ran his story. Who runs an internal investigation by first firing the person? I thought the firing happens after the investigation is complete. If not, the person you just fired could sue you. If Mike didn’t run his story, there would have never been a press release and the industry wouldn’t have known to stay away from Brian Pumper.
No one is saying Brian has any STDs. It seems he was dating the woman he hired and she has has tested positive for chlamydia. She is no longer in the industry. But how do we know if the industry wasn’t told her name? Brian released the statement:
“That’s not true about the testing. And yes, it’s true that we had creative differences. Simple, that’s it. That’s all.”

Pumper was distributed by Evil so in reality, he couldn’t be “fired” by them so much as released from them to find another home. Despite what may have been said to that point about it, losing out on a distribution deal by Evil Angel (or similarly profitable Jules Jordan Video) is a huge loss for him financially as well as in terms of losing face.
As far as the convoluted manner in which the event was made public, Karen and John are uniquely qualified to handle this one. They might have released Pumper upon finding out the likelihood of his record keeping faux pas but sought to find the extent of his problems for a press release. As always, Mike believes in “getting there first” rather than “being the most accurate” but what can you expect from a hillbilly situated in Georgia with as much need for attention as any performer currently in the business?

Don, whoever ran the company, don’t you believe IF they are at fault and tried to cover up that it should be revealed no matter how good a reputation they have?
Thanks Redgoat.

Hillbilly or not, he calls out porn valley people on their bullshit.

DF, it’s a lot more likely redgoat was praising my comments than yours given the falsehoods and projected “facts” you provided so you might want to hold off on thanking him just yet.
Also, it is clear that the one at fault is Pumper. To lay the blame at the feet of anyone else is projecting his guilt on them. Karen has explained her version in detail and at great length, never mentioning unicorns, rainbows, and butterflies, nor suggesting the industry was without faults. They found misconduct, released him from their agreement, and then subsequently released a more detailed version of what went on.
Pumper is likely to remain in porn too so why you suggest he will be banned is beyond me (and yeah, Mark Goldberg was still doing post production work under various aliases last time I checked up on the matter so suggesting he was banned is another stretch).
In terms of reputation, I think it is fair to ask those you’re suggesting did something wrong; giving them a chance to explain and provide their side of things before running it as a story.
Iwasthere, if his hit to miss ratio was substantially better, he might rise to the level of the National Enquirer. A willingness to print a one sided story is easy and doesn’t generally merit praise but I suppose it works for Mike (and yeah, he has never answered those pesky questions posed his way on some of his illustrious misconduct over the years so I can see why his usual spiel of “deflect and spin” works for him).

I wonder what reputable agents will send talent to him now.
I expect that some will do. I mean, Max was getting sent unsuspecting victims from Europe for a while.

Harvey, I think you answered your own question in the first line of your response (ie: “reputable”).

Didnt the ever so truthful Mrs. Stagliano say that this was Mr. Humpers THIRD offense?
What did she do the first two time, just cover it up?

Don, of course Brian is the most responsible. But the ones around him are next in line to blame if they knew and didn’t do anything. I gave the facts of her own words. I later gave my own opinion as to what happened based on her own words and timing.
If we gave the people in this industry a chance to explain, the truth would never be revealed. What I have come to realize about this industry is that the ones who run it do not care about anyone except themselves and only care about how much money they can make from the backs of everyone.

Pumper preys on the unsuspecting girls who have no info on the business or know about his habits.
Don, Mike’s methods are not the greatest, but he was right in this case to nail Evil Angel and Pumper. Pumper is clearly a danger to the US adult industry as a whole, his shenanigans could create a perfect excuse for the government to come in and run the show. The industry narrowly dodged a bullet this year by threatening talent in the latest outbreak, but next time may not be so lucky.
Any updates on Seth Dickens? Who is hiring him?

No haven’t heard much on Seth or the others in that case. Emailed two in the company but neither replied back. Put in a friend request on Myspace to the director but so far he hasn’t accepted.

Iwas, I disagree that Pumper’s “shenanigans” (are you a fricking leprechaun? lol) could have been the excuse to the government stepping in since it has been pointed out time and again that “self regulating” industries do not regulate much at all to their (government’s) liking. He engaged in such actions because he could and no amount of governmental interference would have changed that fact, nor would additional laws for that matter; they would only leave the door open for sanctioning him after the fact.
Oh, and saying Mike’s methods are not the greatest is akin to the idea of an endless supply of monkeys typing randomly is not the greatest way to write a Pulitzer prize winner.
DF, giving someone a chance to explain is a tenant of a properly functioning fourth estate, backing up the concept so many of us hold dead that one is innocent until proven guilty. In terms of what Karen and John did or didn’t do, and the timeline they worked within, none of us have the proof to show they did anything wrong; the 1st and 2nd chances bandied about potentially for a host of related misconduct.

What are the names of the talent who worked with the faked tests? Surely a “self policing” industry would take some actions against these people who put the entire industry at risk.
Why no mention of who these test faking performers are…..or is it because they are still considered valuable whores in the industry and are continuing to work? The ever so truthful Mrs. Stagliano tells us that the latest girl is no longer in the business….Seeing as how she and her company ‘covered up” the first two offenses how can we believer her on this if we dont even know the performers names? Something is not right here. I suspect that there is more to this cover up than anyone is talking about….if it looks like shit and smells like shit, its usually shit, and something here smells like shit….Who were the performers who worked with faked tests?
Darrah, if you want the whole story, find out who these test faking performers are!!!!!!!!

I meant that if Pumper’s behavior had led to HIV infection, it would have sparked something huge there was a paper trail of evidence. Government regulations won’t change behavior, but it will punish those who play fast and loose with expected procedures and push those people out. TTBoy doesn’t film in CA anymore. Good. Wait till he fucks up in FL, it will be more than a fine for him, it will be jail.

Jewboy, they don’t release names because Darren James sued in 2004. But he sued because Sharon Mitchell released his name to the mainstream press after calling him telling him they were releasing it. He begged them not to say anything yet because his parents didn’t even know yet he did porn. A day later it’s all splashed all over the news.
