Opinion/Editorial
Yesterday it was reported that a female performer has tested positive for HIV and her partners have tested negative and are under industry quarantine for two 14-day testing periods.
There’s been a lot on information on this that I’ve been reading all since last night. So here’s a rundown of what I’ve gathered.
There were a lot of rumors of who the infected woman is. One woman was more so being mentioned as the woman who is infected. It’s not her. It’s not J.M. Why? Because she’s still working!
When AIM was first contacted about the rumors, they denied everything and said there were no HIV infections. The only reason we know anything now is because it was first revealed on one of the forums. AIM was forced to make a statement yesterday because of the forum posting.
I looked now and still no mention on AIM’s website about the new infection. This first came to light last week. The woman was told she was clean. She continued to work. Days later is when she was told oops, we made a mistake. One of her partners was told his testing would be paid for. But his girlfriend, also a performer, had to pay for her own testing though she could not afford it. Shouldn’t all testing be free from this non-profit organization?
As of yesterday afternoon, the health officer for Los Angeles County said that his office had received no reports about the new infection yet and he was launching an investigation.
Sharon Mitchell says they handle everything privately at AIM unless there’s a widespread problem. While AIM’s administrator Brooke Hunter says this isn’t a major event and the infected performer didn’t work that much at all. Hear that everyone?? It’s no big deal, not a major event, and it’s all kept private unless there’s a widespread danger (goes public). One person infected is one person too many!! Everyone in the industry should be told of new infections but were never informed until a week later after only the rumors were first posted on a forum.
Sharon Mitchell has already been through this before but hasn’t learned her lesson. In 1998 Marc Wallice knowingly infected his costars with HIV. Sharon was accused of keeping everything quite and never told anyone that Marc was HIV positive. The only reason anyone knew about Marc’s HIV status is because Luke Ford broke the story. Sharon and others wanted everything kept quiet so the outside world wouldn’t find out. But it made her look so much more worse after everything finally came to light. So now here again she’s making the industry look back and this time with direct quotes from her and Brooke that this isn’t a major event and it’s all kept private unless there’s a bigger threat.
So it’s better to not say anything even to other performers and let this escalate into a PR nightmare? People are accusing others and naming names and making false accusations against who they think is the infected performer. Many performers have wanted to get their testing done anywhere else but AIM. But the accusations are that they were told they couldn’t work unless they got tested specifically at AIM. So many can’t even go to their own doctors and bring those tests or to any other testing clinic because Sharon Mitchell has convinced many companies to send their performers only to her and to no one else. Sharon Mitchell has already lied in this case and whose to say she isn’t lying about everything else including how many are really infected.

I see the Cali Gov taking over porn testing now. Is the right time.

it SHOULD be free to test everyone and be made mandatory for all legit companies to cover the expenses.

But they might move out of state possibly if the state cracked down.
I always thought it was free. Many can’t afford it but have to pay.

Move out of state? Where?
Porn in only legal to shoot in California and Florida.
In others states is technically prostitution, in Florida, and New Jersey they just do not what to enfoce the law to avoid a pro porn judical decision.
And even if porn becomes legal, who will guaranty that the others States will not enforce THEIR Workers Health regulations too?

Also, how many porners can afford a move out of state today?
The Cali gove has the industry literaly grabbed by the balls right now.
I wonder if they have the balls to act.

That is my point, is the goverment whats to impose a medical code on the industry, there will no means to oppose that.

Yeah I saw it earlier. Thanks. 22 since 2004 but 16 of them never reported. And they have to report them by law but AIM never did.
