Thank you to Harvey Dent for this tip!

Opinion/Editorial

Larry Flynt and Joe Francis are asking the government for a $5 billion bailout. DVD sales are down 22% from a year ago and Flynt and Francis seem to think making fools out of themselves in Washington will help them win over lawmakers:

“With all this economic misery and people losing all that money, sex is the farthest thing from their mind,” Flynt says. “It’s time for Congress to rejuvenate the sexual appetite of America.”

Francis sees his industry like the big three automakers, only BIGGER: “Congress seems willing to help shore up our nation’s most important businesses; we feel we deserve the same consideration.”

I see this as being rather hypocritical of Joe Francis to be teaming up with Larry Flynt. I remember not too long ago when Francis was in prison and crying about why Hugh Hefner and Larry Flynt weren’t helping him fight his obscenity charges.

Francis thinks he is in the same league as Hefner and Flynt. Hefner and Flynt fought the government and were in and out of court and prison because they were truly fighting for freedom of speech and expression. Unlike Francis who takes advantage of underage drunk girls and college students who have too much to drink during their spring breaks.

Hefner and Flynt were also not being charged with drugging and raping underage and legal-aged girls. Hugh Hefner then praised Lary Flynt on ‘Larry King Live’ for all his work in fighting the government but had nothing good to say about Joe Francis when asked by King why he wasn’t helping him.
